Why a healthy gut is so important

The regulation of organ-development, as well as the performance of specific organs follows a certain nutritional cascade.

  • A healthy gut has high priority in the nutritional cascade (visceral organs)
  • Prior to deposition of protein in the piglet’s muscles, other important metabolic processes in sow and piglets have to be fulfilled
  • During infection/inflammation, body reserves are catabolized to preserve life-saving processes in the cascade illustrated above
